Rent a car and find a hotel on the Icelandic south coast
Rent a car and go on a road trip. There is an excellent selection of hotels and other forms of accommodation.
Main attractions
Waterfalls on the south coast of Iceland
- The famous Seljalandsfoss
- The neighboring hidden gems are the Gljúfrabúi waterfall and the Kvernufoss waterfall.
- Skógafoss waterfall
The town of Vík
- The setting of the Netflix series Katla
- The hottest show in Iceland is the Icelandic Lava Show, where lava is created indoors.
- The famous black beach of Reynisfjara and the beautiful Dyrhólaey promontory
- Vík is close to two impressive glaciers: These are Mýrdalsjökull glacier and Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Eyjafjallajökull is where the famous 2010 eruption took place. Vík is also the setting of the Netflix TV series Katla.
- Head east, and you will see the enormous Vatnajökull glacier. It is the site of Iceland’s highest mountain.
Visit glacial lagoons
Drive further east, and you will come to the stunning Fjallsárlón glacial lagoon, the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, and the world-famous Diamond Beach.
