Enjoy Icelandic hospitality in state-of-the-art minibusses

NICETRAVEL’s modern fleet includes Mercedes Sprinter minibusses with comfortable seating, USB chargers, and free Wi-Fi. The company offers day and multi-day tours covering attractions all over Iceland. Tryggvi Þór Ágústsson is the co-founder and CEO of Nice Travel. He was gracious enough to take the time for an interview.

Hey Tryggvi Þór, how is it going? Please give my readers a little background about yourself.

Hi all, my business background is in economics. However, my passion has always been Iceland and showing this country’s unique beauty to visitors who travel with us on our tours.

I am sure many things have changed in the Icelandic travel industry since you founded Nice Travel eleven years ago. What are the main changes you have seen during this time?

The main changes are the increased number of visitors to Iceland. More importantly, many guests visiting Iceland are willing to stay longer and see more parts of this great country. This is our reasoning for offering tours to almost all areas of the country.

What have been the highlights of 2023, and how do you see 2024 and beyond for travel in Iceland?

Icelandic hospitality in action.

The highlights of 2023 for me and Nicetravel as a company is to be able to go about our daily lives and business normally. The big lesson from the Covid period is simply to enjoy life. Do not postpone what you want to do and experience. For 2024 and beyond, I hope happy visitors continue coming to Iceland. We at NiceTravel wish to continue to help make their Iceland adventure an unforgettable experience.

What can those who book tours with Nice Travel expect?

They can expect that we will continue to do our best to create a personal and enjoyable experience for every one of our guests.

Do you have favorite Nice Travel tours that you want to recommend to my readers?

This is a bit like asking to name your favorite child 🙂. I recommend joining one of our Ring Road tours for visitors coming to Iceland who can spend four or more days on a tour. These take guests all around the island. Iceland has so many different and beautiful sights to explore in each unique part of the country.
Let’s talk more about favorite things; what are your favorite places and activities in Iceland? I was born and raised on a farm in the North of Iceland called Skagafjordur. From a very early age, I have owned and been riding Icelandic horses – so these two combined on a beautiful day are my favorites.

What advice do you have for those visiting Iceland for the first time?

My advice is to come here primarily to be ready to experience the power and beauty of nature in all its different forms. Iceland is a geologically active country, and the weather can significantly influence any visit here. So be prepared for adventure and that things don´t always go as planned – but it will be an unforgettable journey.
