One of the highlights of Hotel Husafell is The Spring, with its unique geothermal water, heated by a nearby hot spring, and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The hotel also has a restaurant that serves delicious Icelandic cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients.

In addition to enjoying the hotel’s amenities, guests can explore the nearby attractions, such as Langjökull glacier, including the world-famous Into the Glacier Ice Tunnel,  the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, and the historic Reykholt site. Hótel Husafell also offers visitors golf and bathing options (The Canyon Bath and The Spring), making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Rather nice bathing facilities at Hotel Husafell.
Rather excellent bathing facilities at Hotel Husafell.

I have stayed at Hotel Husafell on several occasions with my wife. I can certainly recommend it for the quality of the hotel itself, its proximity to many fun activities and beautiful places, and its restaurant is top-notch.

Szimonetta Tőzsér is the Marketing Manager of Hotel Husafell, and she has a lot of experience in the Icelandic hotel and hospitality industry.

Hey Szimonetta, can you give my readers background information about you and tell me what brought you to Iceland?

Hey Jon, I would love to do that. I am from Hungary, finished my university studies as an Economist in Hospitality and Tourism. In 2014 my cousin started working here in Iceland and mentioned that there would be a job opening for a hotel manager job…The rest is history:) I was at a point in my career and personal life in Hungary where I felt the urge to change. This opportunity came just right in time. I immediately fell in love with Iceland, and there was no turning back.

Please tell my readers what they can expect when staying at Hotel Husafell

They can expect modern luxury in a tranquil, hidden environment in the Heart of West Iceland.
We can proudly say that this is a fully sustainable hotel where travelers can relax in The Canyon bath or in The Springs and do activities. The hotel is not far from Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, and the Snaefellsnes peninsula. After a long day full of activities or hiking in Husafell, guests can enjoy a meal in our first-class restaurant, where the emphasis is on high-standard Icelandic materials. They can finish the night with a great rest in our spotless and welcoming rooms and get Aurora wake-up calls during the night. The fun never stops in Husafell, and our staff provides exceptional service.

You have been involved with Icelandic hotels for almost a decade now. What can travelers expect from Icelandic hotels?

Over the past decade, I can see a massive development in the hotel industry. Hotel owners put more emphasis on developing their facilities than ever. It is visible in the range of services they offer and the evolution in quality. Luxury is no longer connected to the capital: increasingly high-standard hotels are opening their gates for tourism in the countryside. Hótel Husafell is the perfect example of that- you can enjoy the raw beauties of nature, but you do not need to give up on comfort.

What are your favorite activities and places here in Iceland?

I am a huge fan of bathing or anything that includes soaking in warm water for hours. Therefore my all-time favorite is the Canyon bath. This is something that should be on everyone’s bucket list.
I have many favorite places, like Patreksfjörður in the West Fjords, or Kvernufoss waterfall in Skógar, but since Iceland is nothing, but a treasure, it is tough to choose. I also love snowmobiling. Whale-watching is now the number one thing on my to-do list!

What advice do you have for those visiting Iceland for the first time?

I would highly advise everyone visiting Iceland to do their “homework” before booking the trip. Iceland is a beautiful country with incredible landscapes and amazing activities. It is also one of the safest countries in the world, with the best quality tap water. I would also recommend planning longer stays, as there are long distances and a country full of miracles.

Please be aware the weather can be pretty hectic. I suggest researching weather and road conditions before entering the country. Especially during the winter season, check the road. Before going on road trips, make sure your itinerary fits with the advice given on that website. And remember, Icelanders have a saying: “If the weather is bad, just wait 5 minutes, ” which is the perfect way to describe the island.
