It is time for 2022 Wrapped for Stuck in Iceland Travel Magazine. 2022 was a banner year for my discount promo codes for Iceland tours. Three thousand people used my discount promotional code to save money on top-rated Icelandic tours and activities, camper van rentals, and car rentals. It is safe to say that they saved a lot of money while traveling in Iceland. I have so much great feedback for the promo codes; a few have even taken the trouble to make me extremely happy and give Stuck in Iceland Travel Magazine a whole house on the Trustpilot review site. Thank you for that!  I am so excited to find out if the discount promo codes will be as big in 2023. In any case I am grateful to all those who have used the promo codes and my partners who have collaborated with me.

2023 was the year when …

  • Stuck in Iceland Travel Magazine celebrated its 10th anniversary. For the past decade, 800 thousand  people have read Stuck in Iceland Travel Magazine
  • Over 40 thousand people used my travel magazine to learn about Iceland and its culture
  • Just under 3 thousand people signed up for my discount promo codes for Iceland tours and activities
  • The turnover archived for my partners closed in on 50 million Icelandic Króna or about $350K. If you are in the travel industry, offer top-rated Iceland tours, and want to find out how to join the Stuck in Iceland community, contact me on Facebook or Linkedin.
  • The savings accrued by my newsletter subscribers ranged in the millions of Icelandic Króna, or somewhere north of a hundred thousand dollars.
  • I set up an account for Stuck in Iceland on Trustpilot and currently enjoy a full house there
  • My Twitter account for the magazine reached four thousand followers with massive engagement.
    • However, due to the right-wing craziness of Twitter’s new owner, I don’t know if I want to use that platform much longer. It is all rather disappointing.

The most-read interviews in 2022

I am also grateful for the twenty-three respondents who took the time for interviews in the magazine. They give my readers many insights into Icelandic culture and excellent travel advice. The three most-read interviews from 2022 were the following

  1. Interview with Icelandic author Aldís Sigmundsdóttir.
  2. Interview with her daughter, actress Aldís Amah Hamilton.
  3. Interview with the lovely Icelandic singer Laufey

Science rules. Putin sucks

Of course, none of this success would have happened if travel restrictions due to COVID-19 had not been lifted. We can all be grateful for vaccines and science. Without the genius of scientists and the technology that enables the tremendous scale of vaccine manufacturing, storage, and delivery, the world would look much grimmer. However, there is still that crazy war in Ukraine that casts its shadow over everything. Let’s hope that Russia will be defeated as soon as possible and that Russian commanders and politicians responsible for the many war crimes committed in Ukraine will be brought to justice. Slava Ukraini!

Working hard, as always

On a personal note, 2022 was a rollercoaster. I had a “professional growing experience” at my former workplace, where, well, let’s say that the values espoused were not the values followed. However, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I am fortunate to work at the globally important pharma supply chain company, Controlant, within its ace marketing team. I am grateful to be a part of the team Controlant who is doing such an important job worldwide. Our mission is to create healthy pharma supply chains for a healthy world. An essential task if there ever was one.

Half a century highlight

My highlight of the year was turning 50. I am a privileged person in good health, surrounded by people and cats that I care about; I can still scale the ropes at Mjölnir gym and enjoy all the silliness of life, so I have not experienced any serious mid-life crisis yet! Another reason to be grateful, I suppose!  However, those who are hoping for some maturity on my part might have to wait longer I am afraid.

All readers would agree that Stuck in Iceland Travel Magazine is a magazine people check out for in-depth articles. And this interview with Sorelle Amore is one of those classic quality articles people love to read.

Go into the glacier and discover a new world.

#4 Into the Glacier

The massive tunnel carved into the massive Langjökull glacier is an engineering wonder. The insight into the cold, rugged glacier you gain by entering the tunnel into the glacial steel is unique. The professionalism of the tour company Arctic Adventures that runs the tunnel and the trips up there is rarely matched. Thank you for being an awesome partner

#5 How to pay for things in Iceland

Would you like to give a tip at restaurants? What is the deal with self-service gas pumps requesting a significant charge on your card? Do Icelandic vendors accept Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, or Garmin Pay? You want to know how to pay for things in Iceland before coming here.

#6 The Dark Side of Thingvellir

Thingvellir is Iceland’s most hallow ground. It is where the settlers founded the Althing, one of the oldest democratic institutions in the world. It was a lively place where everybody would do their utmost to join the fun when the Althingi was in session. Few people paid much attention to the boring old men reciting laws. It was a place to trade, party, and a perfect opportunity for young people to find love (or hook up). But Iceland’s history turned dark, and Thingvellir became a place of judgment and death. There is much more to be said for the incredibly dark history of Iceland but let’s leave this for now.+

#7 Whale watching with Elding

Whales, the beautiful giants of the sea, conveniently frequent the bay of Faxaflói, just outside Reykjavik harbor. The acclaimed whale-watching company Elding will optimize your chances of seeing magnificent whales in the most environmentally friendly way possible. During winter, Elding offers fantastic northern lights cruises. Elding is one of Iceland’s most respected and established tour companies, and I am grateful for their partnership.

#9 The hidden beauty of Gljúfrabúi

So many people stop at the beautiful waterfall of Seljalandsfoss but are blissfully unaware of the stunning waterfall that is hidden next to it. I have done my best to highlight the hidden gem of a waterfall, Gljúfrabúi.

#10 Iceland tours and activities

Of course, people engage with a travel magazine to find out more about tours and activities in Iceland. That is why you love this collection of tours and activities in Iceland!
